Cat Breed Cat Breeder

How to Find a Cat Breeder

So you want to get a cat but you want to make sure that you get the best cat possible, you are going to need to find a cat breeder. Typically for each different cat breed you will need to find a separate cat breeder. It is important that you follow a few steps in order to ensure that you find the right cat breeder, because this is important.

Learn What is Out There

The first thing you are going to need to do if you want to find a cat breeder is learn about what is out there. Browse the Internet and ask around to your family and friends to see what breeders they are aware of, and then start making notes on each so that you can work towards figuring out which is best.

Do Your Research

After this you are going to need to do a bit of research on each. You want to figure out such things as how long they have been breeding cats for, how many different types of breeds they work with, and make sure that they take proper care of their animals.

You are going to want to visit their home or breeding site and in particular check out the mother. This is important because a good cat breeder will take proper care of all their animals, but the mother is the one that you really want to look at because if she is not taken care of, this is not a cat breeder that you are going to want to do business with.

Ask Questions

Once you have narrowed your list down to a select few, you are going to want to meet with each cat breeder and ask questions. Also keep in mind that you should be expecting them to ask you questions just the same, because any good, reputable breeder is going to be just as concerned, wanting to make sure that their kittens are going to be heading to good homes.

This can definitely be quite a process but will be well worth it in the end of it all when you have that perfect kitten and have made sure that your money has been well spent. Not only that but by making sure that you are only dealing with reputable breeders you are keeping business from those breeders who do not care about their animals and who mistreat their cats and should not be profiting from this.
