What is a Rare Cat Breed?

If you want to get a cat but instead of getting one of the usual, more common types of cat you want to go with a rare cat breed, there are a few options that you have available here. Sphinx

The Sphinx is a rare cat breed that you may want to consider and one of the most memorable because they are hairless. Actually the Sphinx is not always totally hairless and there can be a fine down on the body, similar to that on a newborn baby.

The texture of the Sphinx skin has been compared to a suede-covered hot water bottle of heated chamois, and this is one of the features that makes them so unusual. These are substantial cats which are medium sized and strong. The adult cats tend to be larger than the female cats, and they typically have sturdy boning and good muscle development.

British Shorthair

The British Shorthair is another rare cat breed that you may be interested in. These are considered as being the oldest English breed of cat, one which was first prized for its physical strength and hunting ability.

Soon they became known for other respectable characteristics, and they are recognized as being a comparatively rare cat in the United States and other areas of the world.

These cats continue to get more and more popular and because of their easygoing nature and intelligence, they are one of the most well loved breeds of cat.
